1944-S Washington Quarter AU
During the height of the mid-century era, the San Francisco Mint produced this striking silver quarter. Struck in 90 percent pure silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its mid-war production with remarkable clarity. The obverse presents the dignified left-facing profile of George Washington. This iconic portrait, created by sculptor John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 1944 date below the bust. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch beneath its talons. The design is framed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR", alongside the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
