In 1946, the San Francisco Mint produced a classic run of Washington quarters, struck in 90 percent silver. This particular issue, preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, represents a fascinating moment in mid-century American coinage. Containing 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin showcases the enduring physical properties of United States silver currency from the post-World War II era. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan. Surrounding the portrait are the legible inscriptions of LIBERTY and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, with the year 1946 anchored at the bottom.
