This twenty five cent piece from 1947 offers a window into mid twentieth century American coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. The obverse of the coin displays a left facing portrait of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan.
