0.1788 troy oz .900 1947 Almost Unc

In 1947, the San Francisco Mint struck this silver quarter, which survived the decades in Almost Uncirculated condition. Because it was spared from heavy circulation, the coin retains much of its original luster and sharp detail, offering a clear look at mid-century American coinage as it appeared shortly after World War II. The obverse displays the classic left-facing portrait of George Washington, created by sculptor John Flanagan. This familiar depiction is accompanied by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1947" positioned below the bust. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The San Francisco "S" mint mark is located beneath the wreath, while the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" rests above the eagle's head. Struck in 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, representing a beautifully preserved moment in American numismatic history.
