Struck in 1947, this twenty five cent coin represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted at Philadelphia, the piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains the sharp details and lustrous surface that emerged from the minting press over seven decades ago. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington. This portrait, created by sculptor John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "1947." The design offers a dignified representation of the nation's first president, a motif that has defined the quarter dollar for generations. On the reverse, Flanagan's powerful heraldic eagle is showcased with its wings fully spread. The majestic bird grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a pair of olive branches. This side also features the traditional inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" nestled above the eagle, with the face value, "QUARTER DOLLAR," anchoring the bottom of the design.
