The year 1949 marked a classic era in American coinage, represented beautifully by this Washington quarter dollar. Minted in Philadelphia, this piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Kept in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains the sharp details and lustrous surface that make mid-century coinage so compelling to study. On the obverse, the coin displays the left-facing profile of George Washington. This familiar portrait, created by designer John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned to the left of the president's neck, with the date 1949 struck clearly below. The reverse presents a powerful heraldic eagle with outstretched wings. The majestic bird grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a pair of olive branches.
