1949 Washington Quarter XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1949 Extra Fine

Struck in the mid-century era, this 1949 United States quarter dollar represents a classic chapter in American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. It remains in Extra Fine condition, preserving the clear details of its mid-twentieth-century manufacture at the Philadelphia Mint, which did not utilize a mint mark at the time. The obverse displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan. Surrounding the portrait are the traditional inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1949. On the reverse, Flanagan's design features a powerful heraldic eagle gripping a bundle of arrows beneath an olive branch. The classic motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is positioned above the eagle, while the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the central motif.
