In 1951, the San Francisco Mint struck a classic piece of American pocket change, the Washington quarter, in a composition of 90 percent silver. This particular coin survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, offering a remarkably clear look at a design that became a staple of United States currency. The obverse showcases the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington, a portrait created by sculptor John Flanagan.
