1951-S Washington Quarter BU

0.1788 troy oz .900 1951 Brilliant Unc

The 1951-S Washington Quarter stands as a shining example of mid-century American coinage. Minted in San Francisco, this twenty-five cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains the sharp details and original luster that make coins from this era so captivating to examine. On the obverse, the coin displays a dignified left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Accompanying the portrait are the familiar inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1951". The reverse showcases a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows in its talons above a pair of olive branches. This classic symbol of strength and peace is framed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR". The small "S" mint mark, indicating its origin at the San Francisco Mint, can be found positioned just below the olive branch.
