In 1951, the San Francisco Mint produced a classic piece of mid-century American coinage with this Washington quarter. Struck in 90% fine silver, this coin carries a precious metal weight of 0.17875 troy ounces, making it a tangible piece of the nation's circulating silver era. This particular example survives in a condition graded as Very Good or better, showing the honest wear of a coin that likely passed through many hands during the mid-twentieth century. The design, created by John Flanagan, presents a powerful visual narrative on both sides of the coin. The obverse displays the left-facing portrait of George Washington, accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Below the bust, the date 1951 is clearly visible. On the reverse, a majestic heraldic eagle dominates the center, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch to symbolize both strength and peace.
