Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1951, this Washington quarter represents a superb example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.1808 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it does not feature a mint mark, presenting a clean and classic appearance. The obverse displays a left-facing portrait of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Surrounding the profile are the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1951 date at the bottom. On the reverse, an eagle with outstretched wings dominates the design. The bird is accompanied by the national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR. This specific coin has been certified in Proof 65 condition, highlighting its sharp details and mirror-like surfaces which are highly characteristic of the era's proof manufacturing process.
