Semi-Numismatic
1952-D Washington Quarter AU
Struck in 1952 at the Denver Mint, this twenty five cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its mid twentieth century craftsmanship. The obverse displays the familiar left facing portrait of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan. Surrounding the first president's profile are the inscriptions of liberty and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST", along with the 1952 date. On the reverse, a majestic heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. This powerful symbol of strength and peace is accompanied by the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the denomination, "QUARTER DOLLAR". The small letter "D" positioned below the eagle identifies its origin at the Denver facility.
