Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1952, this Washington quarter represents a mid-century moment in American coinage. Minted in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, showing only minor wear from its brief time in circulation decades ago. The obverse of the quarter displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This famous portrait was created by sculptor John Flanagan. Above the bust, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST sits to the left of Washington's neck. The year 1952 is clearly stamped at the bottom of the coin. On the reverse, Flanagan designed a bold heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread. The eagle clutches a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above an olive branch to symbolize both strength and peace. The mint mark S is located just below the center of the olive branch, identifying this piece as a product of the historic San Francisco facility.
