1952 Washington Quarter BU

0.1788 troy oz .900 1952 Brilliant Unc

In 1952, the United States Mint produced a twenty-five cent piece that remains a classic representation of mid-century American coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this quarter contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Its preservation in brilliant uncirculated condition allows modern observers to appreciate the sharp details of its design just as they appeared when the coin first left the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse of the coin displays a dignified left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This side also bears the familiar national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," along with the 1952 year of issue. Sculptor John Flanagan created this iconic portrait, which became a staple of American pocket change for decades. Turning the coin over reveals a powerful reverse design, also crafted by Flanagan. A heraldic eagle stands with its wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons. Beneath the eagle, a pair of olive branches curves upward, symbolizing a desire for peace alongside the strength represented by the arrows. This combination of patriotic imagery and silver luster makes the 1952 quarter a compelling object of study for anyone interested in the artistry of United States coinage.
