1953-D Washington Quarter AU
In 1953, the Denver Mint produced a classic silver quarter that captures the spirit of mid-century America. Struck in 90% silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a long-standing tradition in United States coinage, blending everyday utility with enduring artistry. The obverse side displays the familiar profile of George Washington, the first president of the United States. This portrait, designed by sculptor John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the year of issue, 1953. The design offers a clean, dignified representation of leadership that has defined the quarter for generations. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide. In its talons, the eagle grips a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed, while the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" anchors the bottom of the design. This Denver-struck coin, preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, offers a crisp look at these mid-century details.
