1953 Washington Quarter PF-69 NGC

0.1788 troy oz .900 1953 PF-69 (NGC)

This 1953 Washington quarter represents a stunning achievement in mid-twentieth-century proof coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this twenty-five cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. Because it was minted in Philadelphia during this era, it does not bear a mint mark. What makes this particular specimen extraordinary is its exceptional state of preservation. It has been certified in Proof 69 condition, a grade reserved for coins that are virtually perfect to the naked eye, showing only the tiniest imperfections under magnification. Out of a total mintage of 14,016,000 quarters produced that year, only a select few survive in this pristine state. The reverse of the coin features the classic national motifs, with legible inscriptions including UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination, QUARTER DOLLAR. This coin offers a brilliant window into the craftsmanship of the United States Mint during the post-war era.
