1954-D Washington Quarter AU
This mid-century silver quarter, minted in Denver in 1954, represents a classic era of United States circulating coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Its surfaces retain much of their original luster, preserved in an Almost Uncirculated condition that allows the fine details of the engraving to remain clearly visible. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Positioned around the profile are the traditional national mottos and the date of mintage. On the reverse, Flanagan's powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing both strength and peace. This combination of patriotic imagery and silver composition makes the 1954-D quarter a compelling piece of mid-twentieth-century American numismatic history.
