1954-D Washington Quarter VG/XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1954 Very Good or Better

In 1954, the Denver Mint produced a classic silver quarter that remains a fascinating example of mid-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a bygone era of circulating United States coinage when silver was a standard part of daily commerce. The obverse of the coin features the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This portrait, created by designer John Flanagan, is accompanied by the inscriptions of "LIBERTY" and the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", along with the 1954 year of issue. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch beneath its talons. The Denver "D" mint mark is located below the eagle's wreath, identifying its origin. Surrounding the central design are the traditional inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR".
