0.1788 troy oz .900 1954 Very Good or Better

This twenty-five cent piece from 1954 represents a classic era of United States circulating coinage. Struck in 90% silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in a condition of Very Good or higher, showing the honest wear of a coin that likely passed through many hands during the mid-twentieth century. The obverse features the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan. Positioned around the founding president's likeness are the traditional national mottoes, including the clearly legible inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date of 1954. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons above a pair of olive branches. This side also bears the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and identifies the issuing nation as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
