1955 Washington Quarter BU

0.1788 troy oz .900 1955 Brilliant Unc

The year 1955 brought forth a classic representation of American pocket change, captured here in a Brilliant Uncirculated state. Struck in 90 percent silver, this quarter contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Its preserved condition means the fine details of the mid-century engraving remain as sharp as they were when the coin first left the Philadelphia Mint. On the obverse, the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington dominates the field. This portrait, created by sculptor John Flanagan, has become one of the most recognizable images in American numismatics. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1955 date. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. The eagle grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a pair of olive branches, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed, completing a design that defined mid-century American coinage.
