In 1961, the United States Mint continued a mid-century tradition with the Washington quarter, struck in 90 percent silver. This particular coin survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its original minting over six decades ago. Containing 0.1808 troy ounces of silver, this quarter represents the classic era of circulating precious metal coinage in America. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Above the portrait, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST sits to the left of Washington's neck, and the date 1961 is anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. The denomination is clearly marked below as QUARTER DOLLAR, completing a design that has become one of the most recognizable in American numismatic history.
