In 1962, the United States Mint produced a proof run of Washington quarters that captured the classic mid-century design with remarkable clarity. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, this particular coin has been graded in Proof 67 condition, indicating a nearly flawless preservation of its original, highly polished surfaces and sharp details. With a troy ounce silver weight of 0.1788, it represents the final decade of the circulating silver quarter era. The obverse features the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington. This dignified portrait is accompanied by the word LIBERTY arching above, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST positioned to the left, and the 1962 date below. The meticulous proof striking process brings out the deep contrast between the fields and the raised elements of the design. On the reverse, a powerful eagle with fully spread wings dominates the center. The inscriptions include the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM placed just above the eagle, while the country name and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR frame the central motif.
