The 1963 Washington quarter represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in 90 percent pure silver with a precious metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, this specimen has been certified in an extraordinary Proof 68 state. This high grade highlights the meticulous care taken during its production, resulting in sharp details and mirrored surfaces that are highly valued by enthusiasts of mid-twentieth-century numismatics. The front of the coin displays the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, accompanied by the inscriptions of the word LIBERTY and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1963 date at the base. On the other side, an eagle with outstretched wings is depicted. The reverse design is framed by the traditional inscriptions, including the country name, the Latin motto E Pluribus Unum, and the quarter dollar denomination. Out of a total mintage of 3,075,645 proof pieces struck that year, very few survive in such an immaculate, well-preserved state.
