1973-D Washington Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 1973 Brilliant Unc

The 1973-D Washington quarter represents a fascinating chapter in the evolution of United States coinage. While the Washington quarter series originally debuted on August 1, 1932, replacing the Standing Liberty design, the physical composition of these twenty-five cent pieces underwent a massive transformation decades later. Following the passage of the Coinage Act of 1965, the United States Mint transitioned away from the traditional silver composition to a modern, durable cupronickel clad copper format. This specific specimen, struck at the Denver Mint in 1973, survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving its original mint luster. The obverse features the familiar profile of George Washington, accompanied by the legible inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date 1973. The reverse displays the traditional eagle design, surrounded by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination, QUARTER DOLLAR.
