1976-S Clad Eisenhower Dollar Gem Proof (Type-2)

0.0000 troy oz 1976 Proof

In 1976, the United States celebrated its Bicentennial with a special dual-dated dollar coin. This San Francisco Mint proof version features a dual date of 1776 to 1976 on the obverse, positioned directly beneath the left-facing profile of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The word Liberty arches boldly over his head, while the national motto, In God We Trust, is inscribed just below his chin. The small S mint mark is positioned above the Bicentennial date, indicating its origin at the San Francisco facility. The reverse of this coin presents a striking combination of historical and modern themes, depicting the iconic Liberty Bell superimposed over the moon. This particular variety, known as the Type-2, is distinguished by its thin, rounded lettering. The inscriptions United States of America and One Dollar frame the reverse design, creating a memorable commemorative piece struck in a clad composition of copper and nickel bonded to a pure copper core.
