The 1977 Washington quarter represents a classic era in United States coinage, carrying forward a design that first entered circulation in 1932. Originally created to mark the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth, this portrait of the first president has become one of the most familiar faces in pocket change. In terms of longevity, this series stands as the second longest running design in American history, surpassed only by the Lincoln cent. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this copper-based coin displays the crisp details of a Brilliant Uncirculated specimen. The obverse features the left-facing profile of Washington, accompanied by the traditional national mottoes. The reverse features the classic eagle design with outspread wings, surrounded by the country's name and the denomination of twenty-five cents.
