The 1979 Washington quarter from the Denver Mint represents a fascinating chapter in modern United States coinage. Strikingly preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, this coin showcases the familiar portrait of George Washington on the obverse, paired with a classic eagle design on the reverse. The Denver mintmark is clearly visible, signifying its origin at the Colorado facility. While the Washington quarter series originally debuted on August 1, 1932, to replace the Standing Liberty design, the composition of these circulating twenty-five cent pieces underwent a dramatic transformation decades later. Following the passage of the Coinage Act of 1965, the United States transitioned away from the traditional silver alloy. This 1979 issue features the modern cupronickel clad copper composition, consisting of an inner copper core bonded to outer layers of copper and nickel.
