1980-P Washington Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 1980 Brilliant Unc

The Washington quarter has a rich legacy that traces back to its introduction in 1932. Originally launched on August 1 of that year, this classic coin was created to honor the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. It stepped in to replace the previous Standing Liberty design, permanently reshaping the look of America's twenty five cent denomination. While early versions of this coin were struck in silver, the mid 1960s brought a major shift. Following the passage of the Coinage Act of 1965, the composition of the quarter was altered to conserve precious metal. Since that pivotal transition, these quarters have been minted using a cupronickel clad copper composition. This specific 1980 issue from the Philadelphia Mint survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. It carries the familiar obverse portrait of George Washington alongside the traditional mottos, serving as a pristine example of a modern United States circulating classic.
