1991-P Washington Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 1991 Brilliant Unc

In 1991, the Philadelphia Mint produced this crisp example of the classic Washington quarter. Struck with a brilliant uncirculated finish, the coin showcases a metallic composition consisting of a pure copper core bonded to an outer layer of copper and nickel. This modern clad composition has been the standard for circulating quarters since the mid 1960s, replacing the traditional silver alloy while retaining a bright, silvery appearance. Designed by John Flanagan, the obverse features a left-facing portrait of George Washington, the first president of the United States. This iconic profile is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, placed to the left of the bust, with the mint mark P positioned behind Washington's hair. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed, while the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the central design.
