1992-D Washington Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 1992 Brilliant Unc

In 1992, the Denver Mint produced this clad Washington quarter, which remains a brilliant example of modern American pocket change. Though it appears silver, the coin is actually struck from a layered composition featuring a pure copper center bonded to an outer layer of copper and nickel. This metallic blend has been the standard for circulating quarters since the mid-1960s. The front of the coin features the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Surrounding the first president's likeness are the inscriptions of liberty and the national motto, along with the 1992 year of issue and the small 'D' mint mark indicating its Denver origin. On the reverse side, Flanagan's design displays a powerful heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons, representing both strength and peace. Above the bird, the traditional Latin motto is visible, while the country name and the denomination of quarter dollar frame the entire scene.
