In 2019, the United States Mint released a special entry in the America the Beautiful series that captured the attention of sharp-eyed observers. Struck at the West Point Mint, this twenty-five cent piece features the distinctive 'W' mint mark on its obverse, a rare find for circulating coinage with a mintage of less than 2 million pieces. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. The reverse of the coin features a dramatic scene designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. It depicts American forces arriving at Asan Bay, honoring the bravery of those who landed during the Battle of Guam. Surrounding this historic scene are the inscriptions 'WAR IN THE PACIFIC', 'GUAM', '2019', and the traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'. On the obverse, the familiar profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan, faces left.
