Struck in the ancient world, this silver drachm represents the enduring legacy of Macedon under Alexander III, commonly known as Alexander the Great. Although minted after his reign, the coin carries the iconic imagery that defined his era. Weighing 4.26 grams, this piece of ancient currency contains 0.1360 troy ounces of silver and has survived the centuries with a grading of Choice Extra Fine, showing a strike quality of 4 out of 5 and a surface quality of 3 out of 5, with some signs of being brushed. The obverse of the coin displays a detailed right-facing profile of the mythical hero Heracles, draped in his characteristic lion skin. On the reverse, the supreme deity Zeus is depicted seated and facing left. In his hands, he holds a scepter and an eagle, symbols of supreme authority. The Greek inscription ALEXANDROY is also present on the reverse, serving as a powerful reminder of the ruler whose influence shaped the ancient Mediterranean.
