1842-O Liberty Seated Dime VG
Struck in the pre-1933 era of American coinage, this 10-cent piece represents an early chapter in the long-running Liberty Seated series. Minted in 1842 at the New Orleans branch mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0721 to 0.0773 troy ounces of the precious metal. Despite its journey through time, this specimen retains enough detail to be classified in Very Good condition. The obverse design presents a classic American allegory, depicting Lady Liberty seated upon a rock. In her left hand, she supports a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her right hand rests upon a shield. The date 1842 is clearly visible beneath her feet. On the reverse, the coin features a simple, elegant wreath that encircles the central denomination, framed by the legend of the issuing nation.
