1855 Liberty Seated Dime w/Arrows XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1855 Extra Fine

In 1855, the United States Mint produced a ten-cent silver coin that showcases a fascinating era of American coinage design. This particular silver dime, composed of 90 percent silver containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, stands out due to the prominent arrows placed on either side of the date on the obverse. This design variation was created by Christian Gobrecht, whose work defined the look of mid-nineteenth-century American currency. The obverse of the coin displays a seated figure of Liberty. In her right hand, she supports a shield, while her left hand holds a pole topped with a liberty cap. The date 1855 is clearly struck below her, flanked by the distinctive arrows. On the reverse, the face value of one dime is encircled by a detailed wreath, which is surrounded by the inscription reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This sovereign coin represents a classic era of United States coinage, preserved in Extra Fine condition.
