Struck on the eve of the American Civil War, this 1860 silver dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Produced at the southern branch mint in New Orleans, Louisiana, the coin bears the distinctive 'O' mint mark on its reverse. With a total mintage of 515,000 pieces, finding an example that survived in such a well-preserved state offers a fascinating glimpse into the past.
