1867-S Liberty Seated Half Dollar XF

0.3599 troy oz .900 1867 Extra Fine

Struck in 90 percent silver at the San Francisco Mint, this 1867 half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. The coin contains 0.3599 troy ounces of precious metal and displays the detailed artistry of Christian Gobrecht, whose work defined mid-nineteenth-century American currency. The obverse features a graceful depiction of Liberty seated upon a rock. In her hands, she holds a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests on a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Below her, the year 1867 is clearly visible. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted with a shield across its chest. The bird is perched on an olive branch and holds three arrows in its talons, symbolizing both peace and readiness. This half-dollar denomination is marked at the bottom as HALF DOL., surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
