1871 Liberty Seated Dime VF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1871 Very Fine

The year 1871 saw the production of this ten cent silver coin, a striking representative of the long-running Liberty Seated series. Struck in 90% fine silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Its design, created by Christian Gobrecht, showcases the artistry of nineteenth-century American coinage, backed by the authority of the United States government. On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted resting on a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand supports a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Below her feet, the date 1871 is clearly visible. The reverse side features a detailed wreath that encircles the face value of the coin, designated as ONE DIME. The surrounding legend reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, framing the central wreath.
