0.0715 troy oz .900 1875 Very Fine

This ten cent piece from 1875 offers a window into the early days of the Carson City Mint. Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin represents a fascinating era of American coining, carrying the distinct and highly sought-after CC mint mark positioned just below the bow on the reverse side. The obverse displays a seated figure of Lady Liberty, who holds a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand while resting her other hand upon a shield. The word LIBERTY is inscribed across the shield, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the year 1875. This elegant depiction was created by Christian Gobrecht. On the reverse, a detailed wreath encircles the denomination, which is written as ONE DIME. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, preserving the intricate details of Gobrecht's mid nineteenth century design for modern observers to appreciate.
