1875 Liberty Seated Half Dollar MS-65 PCGS

In 1875, the Philadelphia Mint produced over six million silver half dollars, each containing 0.3575 ounces of silver with a purity of 90 percent. This particular specimen survives in an exceptional state of preservation, certified at a high grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65). It stands as a remarkable survivor from the post-Civil War era of American coinage. The obverse features a classic representation of Liberty seated, grasping a pole topped with a liberty cap in one hand while resting her other hand upon a shield. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted perched upon a branch while clutching three arrows, its chest protected by a shield. Because this coin was struck at the main mint facility in Philadelphia, it bears no mint mark alongside its 1875 date.
