The 1875 Liberty Seated half dollar represents a classic era of American coinage, minted in Philadelphia during the late nineteenth century. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, this fifty-cent piece carries a total silver weight of 0.3575 troy ounces. The coin is preserved in Extra Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the finer points of its design. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted sitting on a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. This elegant representation was created by Christian Gobrecht and served as a staple of American silver currency for decades. The year 1875 is clearly struck beneath the central figure. The reverse side displays a heraldic eagle perched upon a branch, gripping three arrows in its talons. A shield is positioned across the eagle's chest, mirroring the theme of national defense and unity seen on the obverse. Below this central motif, the denomination is rendered as HALF DOL., surrounded by the legend of the issuing nation. Because this specimen was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, it bears no mint mark.
