1875 Liberty Seated Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1875 Fine

The year 1875 brought forth this silver quarter, a twenty-five cent piece crafted from 90 percent silver. Minted in Philadelphia, this coin carries no mint mark, which distinguishes it from those struck at branch facilities. It represents the enduring Liberty Seated design, a prominent artistic series in nineteenth-century American coinage. On the obverse, Liberty is depicted sitting and facing to her left. She holds a pole topped with a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of freedom, while thirteen stars arch around the upper border to represent the original colonies. The date 1875 is clearly inscribed beneath her feet. The reverse features an eagle facing left, clutching an olive branch of peace in one talon and three arrows of defense in the other. The inscriptions surrounding the eagle read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUAR. DOL." to denote the face value. This particular coin survives in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in active circulation.
