1875 Liberty Seated Quarter XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1875 Extra Fine

Struck in the post Civil War era, this 1875 silver quarter showcases the iconic Liberty Seated design. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not feature a mint mark, making it a classic representative of the era's standard coinage. The obverse of the quarter displays a seated figure of Liberty facing left. She rests on a rock, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. This central figure is encircled by thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, with the year 1875 inscribed below her. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted facing left, clutching an olive branch of peace and three arrows of strength in its talons. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, this coin survived in Extra Fine condition, preserving the intricate details of a design that circulated widely during a transformative period in American history.
