Struck in the centennial year of the United States, this 1876 silver half dollar showcases the classic Liberty Seated motif. The obverse displays the figure of Liberty resting on a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand supports a shield. This design, created by Christian Gobrecht, represents a long-running era of American silver coinage. The reverse of the fifty-cent piece features an eagle with a shield draped across its chest, perched upon an olive branch while clutching three arrows. This specific coin, graded in Fine condition, retains a complete rim on the reverse side. It was minted in Philadelphia with a purity of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal out of a total mintage of 8,418,000 pieces.
