The year 1877 saw the production of a classic American silver quarter at the legendary Carson City Mint in Nevada. Struck in 90% fine silver, this twenty-five cent piece carries the famous 'CC' mint mark beneath the reverse design, linking it directly to the era of the American frontier and the rich silver veins of the Comstock Lode. The obverse of the coin displays Lady Liberty seated upon a rock, her right hand supporting a shield inscribed with the word 'LIBERTY'. In her left hand, she holds a staff topped by a liberty cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. The year 1877 is boldly struck at the base of the design. On the reverse, an American eagle is depicted with a shield across its chest, clutching an olive branch and a trio of arrows in its talons. This design, created by Christian Gobrecht, represents a historic era in United States coinage. Out of a mintage of 4,192,000, this particular specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the intricate details of both the seated figure and the eagle.
