The 1877 Liberty Seated half dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse of the coin features the figure of Liberty seated on a rock. In her hands, she supports a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests on a shield. The year 1877 is inscribed at the bottom of the coin. This particular specimen is preserved in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining the core elements of its historic design. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle perched on a branch, grasping three arrows in its talons. A shield is placed across the chest of the eagle, mirroring the shield on the obverse. The legend surrounding the eagle reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination is noted at the bottom as HALF DOL.
