1885 Liberty Seated Dime Fine

The 1885 Liberty Seated dime represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this ten-cent piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. Because it was produced at the main Philadelphia facility, it does not bear a mint mark, distinguishing it from issues of other minting facilities of the period. The coin features the celebrated artwork of Christian Gobrecht. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted sitting on a rock, holding a staff topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The date 1885 is positioned beneath her feet, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. On the reverse, a detailed agricultural wreath encircles the face value, which is written as ONE DIME. This specimen survives in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining the core details of this nineteenth-century design.
