0.0715 troy oz .900 1887 Almost Unc

The 1887 Liberty Seated dime represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this ten-cent piece contains approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. Because it was minted at the main Philadelphia facility, it does not bear a mint mark, distinguishing it from branch-mint issues of the same year. On the obverse, the design by Christian Gobrecht presents Lady Liberty in a seated position. She holds a pole topped with a Phrygian cap in one hand while her other hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The year 1887 is anchored at the bottom of the design, beneath her feet. The reverse of the coin focuses on the denomination, displaying the words ONE DIME boldly in the center. This text is encircled by a detailed wreath, which is itself surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This particular specimen survives in an impressive Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of Gobrecht's nineteenth-century artistry.
