1890 Liberty Seated Dime VG

0.0715 troy oz .900 1890 Very Good

The 1890 Liberty Seated dime offers a window into late nineteenth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this ten-cent piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents the final years of a classic design era that defined United States silver currency for decades. On the obverse, the coin displays the famous depiction of Liberty seated, holding a shield in one hand and a staff topped with a liberty cap in the other. The year 1890 is inscribed below the figure, while the word LIBERTY is visible on the shield. This elegant composition was created by the noted artist Christian Gobrecht. The reverse of the coin features the words ONE DIME encircled by an ornate wreath. Around the outer rim, the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is clearly displayed. This sovereign issue, backed by the United States government, survives today in Very Good condition, showcasing the honest wear of a coin that once circulated widely in daily commerce.
