The year 1890 marked a late chapter for one of America's most enduring coinage designs. Minted in San Francisco, this silver dime offers a tangible look at nineteenth-century circulating currency. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, surviving today in a Very Fine circulated condition that preserves its historic character. The obverse features the classic representation of Liberty seated upon a rock. In her right hand, she supports a shield, while her left hand holds a staff topped with a liberty cap. The date 1890 is positioned below the figure, and the word LIBERTY is visible on the shield. This design represents a long-running era of United States coinage, showcasing a motif that defined American pocket change for over half a century. On the reverse, the coin displays its face value of ONE DIME, encircled by a traditional wreath. The surrounding inscription reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The San Francisco mint mark is present on this side, designating its origin from the Western minting facility.
