1891 Liberty Seated Dime VF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1891 Very Fine

The year 1891 marked the final chapter for one of America's most enduring coinage designs. This silver dime, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, showcases the iconic Liberty Seated motif, a design created by Christian Gobrecht that graced United States silver coins for over half a century. Minted with a purity of 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of American coinage. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted sitting upon a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield. The date 1891 is clearly inscribed beneath her feet, surrounded by the legend of the issuing nation. The reverse of the coin is dedicated to the denomination, with the words ONE DIME encircled by a lush, detailed wreath. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the fine details of Gobrecht's artistry that have survived through decades of circulation.
