The year 1891 marked the final chapter for one of America's most enduring coinage designs. This silver dime, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, showcases the iconic Liberty Seated motif, a design created by Christian Gobrecht that graced United States silver coins for over half a century. Minted with a purity of 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of American coinage. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted sitting upon a rock, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield. The date 1891 is clearly inscribed beneath her feet, surrounded by the legend of the issuing nation.
